As I had previously mentioned, I actually set my "resolutions" on my birthday, because that's the day I count my age so I personally feel that it is a better milestone of my goals and accomplishments. Whenever you chose to set your dreams, please don't give up on them!
The most depressing feeling to me is to age a year without feeling accomplished for what I had done in that year of my life. I am depressed to read people dreading turning 25, 20, even 18. How is it possible that people met such a landmark with dread and sadness instead of excitement and enthusiasm? we are all capable of doing so much and being everything that we want to be! It's sort of like you're spending your life thinking about what you should be doing or what you wished you had done instead of doing what you want to be doing in the first place! While it's frusterating not to achieve a goal, please don't give up on what you want out of life!
I would recommend everyone to just stop and think for a minute about a tangable, realistic goal for this year and to reconsider attempting to achieve it. Sometimes life can be overwhelming and there is always too much to do and too little time. Sometimes sacrifices must be made, but we can't lose sight of personal growth and our own dreams and aspirations. Many of us have so much going on in our lives and so many people that we need to support and help that we forget to actually take care of and support ourselves!
I would love for you to share with me both the things you would hope to accomplish in the upcoming year and all of the wonderful things you were able to do in the past year. If you were unable to meet your goal, instead of tossing it aside why not take a cold hard look at why you weren't able to accomplish it.
As for me, my goal was to become more healthy; I worked very hard and feel a lot better about myself and for that I feel blessed and greatful. This year, I am graduating so I will be focusing on finally finishing my last year of school, finding a job, and finding my first apartment! As with every year, my one resolution which is constantly on going is to try new things all of the time and to meet new people and make new friends. This is a goal which I hope to maintain my entire life!
Oh, and if I have any spare time I would love to learn how to play the guitar, how cool would that be? I should also probably draw more often haha!
R E S O U R C E S

continue going to the gym 5 times a week (I'm down 20 pounds since I joined in October).
Become conversationally fluent in Chinese (I've been learning it in my spare time for about 3 months)
Pay bills on time
Stop spending money on useless crap
Draw more - improve on dynamic poses, composition, coloring, drawing men that don't look like trannies. Lol
hopefully if I accomplish these I will be in a much more stable place than I feel right now, at least financially!
Chinese is such an interesting language! Any particular reason for wanting to learn it?
And ahhhhh money can be such a source of stress right??? Luckily I have always been able to pay everything on time PHEW! Otherwise I think I'd stress to death!!
Chinese is so fun to learn! So different from English and Spanish, so it's challenging, but in a good way. I am learning for fun mainly and for future travel (my younger sister is moving to Asia and I'm thinking vacaaation time). I also found out my company has offices over there, and how freaking cool would it be to work overseas?
And yes, finances suck, and they've been a huge source of stress for me, triggering my migraines. But since I am determined to get them in order, my headaches (both literally and figuratively lol) should go away!
Yeah vacationing sounds like a lot of fun! I've never been to asia... I imagine Japan is probably my pick only because I have friends there haha!
And lastly yes, I am also battling the crowds at the gym. But it doesn't bother me so much, I'm just glad to see people getting out and doing stuff
this year it's 1) Cook dinner for the family more often
2) find a job that will allow me to move out of my parents house
3) exercise
4) Fix my website
5) learn Japanese
6) more comic-a-day months
7) 24 hour comic
8) clean up the mess that is my life
9) finally take a road trip to Wisconsin
10) clean driving record (I've done this every year since I got my license... it's an easy one)
You have some ambitious art goals, too! best of luck
Wisconsin has a restaurant called "safe house" that's themed as an ultra cool spy hideout with secret passages and an alibi phone. It's only and hour and a half away... I've just been putting it off.
And good luck with your resolutions too.. especially finishing school, that's sure to get crazy!
It's really tough to do, but it's best to try to move on whenever you can. The only thing worse than getting really hurt is dwelling on it and wasting even more time on it! I, too, sometimes get stuck up on certain things but when I do move on I'm always really glad and the only thing I regret is taking that long to do so!
I hope 2010 is better for you
I have made the same experience... I used to dwell on bad things, but nowadays I'd rather try to move on.
Oh, and of course I hope you'll have a good 2010!
