Hey so as the summer gets hotter and hotter (over 30 degrees c here in Victoria, which is really hot for canada... or at least the west coast!) I begin to crave salad more and more! I get really sick of eating the same salad over and over though, so I'm asking for you guys to share your favourite salad recipes!
The person who shares the best salad recipe (or salad dressing recipe!) will get a free coloured sketch from me

Why not? I have been pretty art blocked so maybe it would be good for me!
So as for the salads I like: I like to make my own dressing and I don't like "heavy" salads like pasta salads. I like fruit salads, green salads, and various vegetable and leafy ones best.
What do you like for Salad? Or are you not a fan of Salad?

GET YOURSELF A LAWYER AND A GUN
And strictly veggie salad, I prefer both romaine lettuce, baby spinach, tomatoes, onions, mushrooms, cucumbers, carrot shreds, and light dressing like Italian or light Caesar dressing.
I hope you'll give a try any of them.

I like salad with ranch dressing with the occasional bacon bits and croutons. Though I'm not a fan of thick veined leaves like romaine. I like spinach and radicchio more.
I think I might take a look into that second recipe, maybe omitting the cinnamon since my parents don't like it. I've never really had a fruit salad, but I think I might start making them.

3/4 cup apple juice
1/2 cup zinfandel wine, or other fruity dry red wine
1/2 cup cranberry juice cocktail
3 tablespoons shallots, minced
1 1/2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 tablespoon walnut oil
10 cups lettuce, gourmet salad greens preferred
3 cups apple, cubed (Gala, about 2 apples)
1 cup sweet onion, thinly sliced
1/3 cup walnuts, coarsely chopped
1. Combine cranberries and apple juice in a medium saucepan; bring to a boil. Remove from heat; let stand 10 minutes. Drain cranberries; discard apple juice. Set cranberries aside.
2. Bring wine and cranberry juice to a boil in pan, and cook until reduced to 1/3 cup (about 8 minutes). Pour wine mixture into a medium bowl; add shallots, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Gradually add oil, stirring with a whisk.
3. Combine cranberries, greens, apple, and onion in a large bowl. Drizzle dressing over salad; toss gently to coat. Sprinkle with walnuts.
pineapple chunks
mandarin oranges
fresh sliced strawberries
sunflower seeds (also good with sliced almonds or chopped walnuts)
for the dressing, i buy fat free poppyseed dressing, pour a little into a bowl and mix in pineapple juice to tie it all together. It's delicious, and pretty much what I live off of in the summer (: And it's really light and colorful!

Watch "The Fall"!
I would try one with ginger dressing and ice cold tomatoes + lettuce
if you're into something like a chicken/tuna salad
Recently my family has had to adjust their diet because of my dad's heart condition. We made tuna salad without mayo and replaced it with avocado!
Light, healthy, a little crunch. If you're a fan:
1 can tuna (oil, drained)
1/3 of small white onion diced
1 stem of celery chopped
pepper to taste
1 avocado mashed with spoon
1 tablespoon relish
Just mix and chill! Goes great with toast and a little slice of tomato.

Fruit Salad:
1 bag green seedless grapes
1 bag red seedless grapes
1/4-1/2 of a watermelon (seedless or seeds, doesn't matter)
2 Granny Smith Apples
2 Yellow Delicious Apples
1/2 box strawberries
1/2 box blueberries
Wash all of your fruit. Cut strawberries into slices Cut watermelon into cubes/squares. Core and cut apples into slices. Don't forget to pick the grapes off the cut vine! Put fruit in a large bowl in the following order: Watermelon, Granny Smith Apples, blueberries, red seedless grapes, yellow delicious apples, green seedless grapes and strawberries. You can switch the amounts depending on how many you're serving or to which foods you prefer most. You can toss it if you like but be careful. I like the layered look of the fruits. You can substitute other fruits if you like. I occasionally add a bit of sugared strawberries and for that I just put about 1/4 to 1/2 of sugar in a tupperware container, add sliced straw better, pop on the tupperware cap and SHAKE. Then just put the strawberries as your top most layer in the salad.
