New Bass Guitar!

So I am in need of a new bass guitar and I wanted to know if you guys have any tips/suggestions on what to get. I'm really just going to buy something cheap to rock out on because I'm not a member of a band or anything and don't need a top notch instrument, I just need something I can play around with. I've really only played on "learner" quality instruments anyway!

Suggestions? Recommendations?

Yamaha bass' are great quality for what they're worth. Sturdy and good sound quality for nearly any style you want to go for (+ cheap cheap cheap!)

Thanks for the suggestion! I've had some yamaha instruments before and have had good luck with them, so maybe I'll go bass with them, too! I really appreciate your feedback!

My own Yamaha bass is very trusty indeed, I thought I'd spread the Yamaha love!

Tmobbs' got the right idea, the Yamaha RBX series are not too pricy and deliver good over all tone. I'd suggest a Yamaha RBX374.

You play bass? You were cool before.

Now your coolness just jumped an entire level.

I have a just-about-bottom-of-the-line Yamaha that I don't mind too much. A little too much fret noise, but that could be just using too light of strings or something, I'm not sure. I'm a guitar person.

Thanks haha! I don't really play very well, but I'll never learn proper without my own instrument so I'm looking into it...
