Phew, this was a long time in the making. I kept getting so many requests for an inking tutorial! It's no wonder there aren't very many good ones out there, it was the most difficult tutorial I've written yet. Even when I read through it now, I don't think it's completely concise OR clear. But it's better than nothing.

I covered a bunch of techniques ranging from the very basic to the fairly intermediate, so I hope everyone who reads it gets something out of it.

Some people also asked for a digital inking tutorial, which will not happen. I do not ink digitally, only traditionaly! Let me know if you have any questions :D!

Thanks! This has been one of the best inking tutorials I've found so far. Lots of good tips in here. I'm looking forward to beginning my inking adventure. :)

Thank you, this is very useful~
but I still have some questions: What kind of paper do you use? Because I think it's really hard to ink on a piece of paper which have been erased and drawn over so many time... How thick should the paper be? Any brand suggestions?

I don't know a great deal about papers, unfortunately. I usually buy sketchbook intended for inking. Make sure that the paper you are working on archives ink, otherwise it will fade over time. I prefer very soft and smooth papers for inking and drawing, myself, but even a high quality thicker super bright printer paper can do in a pinch!
