Artist's Comments

Rememberance Day is a really important day for me. Please take the time to remember at the 11th hour of the 11th month of the 11th day of this year; for those who gave everything for our freedom today.

I used just Markers for this one (ugh art block D: )

I love the natural feel and the one in the center really catches the eye - the blends of colors are truly neat !!

I love it, and thank you for contributing your part to all those who protect us. Many heads on that hour needed to be bowed for a moment to remember those who cared and fouth for the freedom we all enjoy, no matter what country.

I love how the poppy flowers gets all the focus and the stems and leaves sink into the background.

Every Veteran's Day, my family buys poppy flowers made from fabric from the American Legion. The flowers are a dollar each. Some don't find that a dollar is too expensive for a fabric poppy, but I think those don't really understand the meaning of them. They grew over the military graves on the Western front. My family is from a military lineage so we always are donating money on Veteran's day to help out ex-soldiers and their families. We display them on our rear-view mirror thing in our cars proudly. It's a time to remember when my dad fought, when my grandfathers' fought and now my cousins are fighting.

Sorry, long comment. I get all weird when it comes to Veteran's Day.

We celebrate the Treaty of Versailles and the ending of the war. It's also a time to celebrate the soldiers that have fought in our wars and died. We celebrate the veteran's of the wars that are still living. It's a time to remember all those who have protected your country through the various wars.

The poppy is symbolic of when poppies grew over the graves of soldiers on the Western Front in World War I. It's a flower of remembrance.

The money you donate to buy a flower goes to ex-soldiers and their families to help them with bills and building homes for seniors. You donate to the American Legion if you live in America.

The end of the Second World War. Most countries have ceremonies to remember the soldiers who died and fought for our countries on that day :)

Very lovely comment! I buy them, too. Here in Canada it's by donation, though, so you can spend a quarter or a bill on them, whatever you want :)

Thank you. Every year I try to paint or draw poppies because it's significant to me....
