"Veterans' Day" in the U.S. I think
--
Every Veteran's Day, my family buys poppy flowers made from fabric from the American Legion. The flowers are a dollar each. Some don't find that a dollar is too expensive for a fabric poppy, but I think those don't really understand the meaning of them. They grew over the military graves on the Western front. My family is from a military lineage so we always are donating money on Veteran's day to help out ex-soldiers and their families. We display them on our rear-view mirror thing in our cars proudly. It's a time to remember when my dad fought, when my grandfathers' fought and now my cousins are fighting.
Sorry, long comment. I get all weird when it comes to Veteran's Day.
The poppy is symbolic of when poppies grew over the graves of soldiers on the Western Front in World War I. It's a flower of remembrance.
The money you donate to buy a flower goes to ex-soldiers and their families to help them with bills and building homes for seniors. You donate to the American Legion if you live in America.
